Good Shepherd Day School Job Description Executive Director The mission of Good Shepherd Day School, an educational ministry of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, is to nurture the development of the whole child; spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically. The Executive Director is responsible for the daily operation of Good Shepherd Day School in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and board-approved governing documents. This position reports to Good Shepherd Day School’s Board of Directors. The primary work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm with occasional nights and weekends required. The Executive Director must be available in case of emergency at any hour. Responsibilities
Fosters a safe and welcoming learning environment for children, families, and staff.
Researches and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations as they relate to the Day School, including STARS requirements, licensing, and accreditation standards.
Researches and complies with the Cannons of the Episcopal Church as they relate to the Day School’s mission and operation.
Serves as a role model of Christian faith for children, families, staff and community and promotes Good Shepherd Day School’s Christian mission and faith-based education.
Understands, demonstrates, and implements board-approved policies and procedures; suggests changes to Board of Directors as needed.
Supervises all Day School employees and is responsible for the hiring/firing of all staff, orientation, scheduling, evaluation, and continuing education. Executive Director will maintain appropriate personnel and licensing documentation for current and past employees in accordance with federal guidelines.
Develops and implements a standards-based curriculum with staff members, including religious curriculum developed in conjunction with Good Shepherd Episcopal Church and pursuant to Episcopal Church governing documents and theology.
Regularly engages with staff, children, families, Good Shepherd Episcopal Church staff, and other identified stakeholders and maintains a visible presence at the School and at all School-related events.
Promotes and communicates the value and Christian mission of the Day School to current and potential families, alumni, donors, and community members.
Actively participates in fundraising and marketing campaigns on behalf of the school.
Develops and abides by the annual operating budget in coordination with the Finance Committee as approved by the Board of Directors.
Manages payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable in coordination with the Bookkeeper.
Prepares and maintains accurate financial records including but not limited to profit and loss statements, investment statements, tuition records, and purchase agreements in coordination with the Finance Committee of the Board and the Bookkeeper.
Monitors all financial transactions and updates Board of Directors at each monthly meeting.
Ensures all Good Shepherd Day School spaces are adequately and appropriately maintained and develops a maintenance schedule in partnership with Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.
Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
Superb written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to manage staff, family, and student needs respectfully and appropriately.
Must demonstrate Microsoft Office proficiency and willingness to learn QuickBooks and social media platforms.
Must demonstrate professional, educational, and emotional leadership at all times while representing Good Shepherd Day School.
Ability to implement policies and emergency procedures with confidence and clarity.
Maintain confidentiality of records.
Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; If degree is in an unrelated field, candidates must possess a minimum of three years of direct childcare experience in a STARS rated center of 3 stars or higher and willingness to obtain a Kentucky Director’s Credential
A minimum of two years’ teaching experience is preferred.
A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in school administration is preferred.
